A hardbound journal whose cover is cast in resin around a raised dragon eye. The blank manila block inside comes out and a fresh one goes in, so the cover does not retire with the paper. Eleven color treatments change how deep the eye reads.

Ordinarily the nicest part of a notebook goes in the bin with the last written page. Separating the block from the binding fixes that. Resin also handles a bag far better than board and cloth, which is where most covers get their corners knocked off.
Refill it rather than replace it.

The block is A5, so lined or dotted refills are easy to find if blank is not your preference. At 15 by 19 by 4 cm and a little over a kilo this belongs on a desk or in a bag, not in a coat pocket. The resin is sealed, so a damp cloth is all the cover needs.
Choose a treatment and open it up.
