The rear panels cross over rather than meeting, leaving a gap that a ponytail passes straight through. The band then sits flat where it belongs instead of riding over a knot of hair. The brim curves forward and keeps its own shape, and the back closure adjusts.
With a regular cap you either take the hair down or wear the cap badly. The crossed rear panels remove that trade by leaving a purpose-made opening. Over a two-hour run or a long day outside, that stops being a small detail.
Finally a cap designed around the hair, not in spite of it.
Thread the ponytail through the rear opening before you seat the hat, then tighten the closure. Work the brim between your hands if you want a deeper curve than it arrives with. It folds down to roughly 28 x 18 x 12 cm and slips flat into a gym bag.
Thread your hair through and head out.
