A foam vest for young swimmers, with float sections worked into the shoulders and a whistle clipped at the chest. A buckle closes it across the front so it stays put once it is on. The body measures roughly 14.5 inches, sized for smaller swimmers.

Inflatable bands slide off arms and go soft halfway through an afternoon. Closed-cell foam floats on day ten exactly as it did on day one. The shoulder sections hold a child level in the water instead of tipping them nose-first.
Pool in June, beach in July, front of the kayak in August.

Buckle it snugly, then lift at the shoulders to check that the vest does not slide upward. Rinse it in fresh water after chlorine or salt and dry it flat out of the sun. This is swim gear for supervised use in the water, not a replacement for watching.

Pack it with the towels and let them get in.
