Each ball is 6 cm of wound cotton thread with an LED inside, so the light comes through the shell instead of straight at you. Runs come in five lengths from 1.5 to 10 m, carrying 10 to 50 lights. Ten color mixes are available, from single tones to two-color and multicolor sets.
String lights usually mean bare bulbs on a green wire. These hide the diode inside a cotton shell, which softens the light and gives the strand enough weight to hang in a proper curve. Power comes from a USB port or a battery pack, whichever sits closer to where you want it.
The thread between the balls is flexible enough to drape, coil or pin flat along a wall.
