This panel measures 153 by 115 centimeters and drapes over the windshield. Six magnets hold it against the surrounding bodywork, and two side flaps tuck inside the doors so wind cannot lift it. Reinforced aluminum foil sits behind the oxford outer layer.

Frost takes a few minutes to clear on a cold morning, and freezing rain often leaves half the glass streaked anyway. With a cover on, you pull it off and drive. The same panel works in reverse through summer and keeps the dashboard out of direct sun.
A minute of work at night saves five minutes of scraping at dawn.

Lay the cover across the glass with the foil side facing in, then fold the flaps into the open doors before you shut them. The magnets grab the panels around the windshield; on an aluminum hood they hold less firmly and the flaps do more of the work. After wet weather, open it out at home to dry before you fold it away.
Keep one in the trunk before the first frost.
