Disc lights that stick where you need them and come on by themselves

Each disc is 8 cm across and carries a sensor that only fires when the surrounding light is low. The light holds for twenty seconds after the last movement, then drops out again. Packs of two, four and eight are available, in warm or cool white.

Why choose these disc lights?

Cupboards, stair treads and wardrobes rarely have a switch anywhere useful. These go up with a magnet plate or an adhesive pad, without tools and without wiring. Since they ignore daylight and shut themselves off, one set of cells covers several months of normal use.

Only in the dark: the sensor stays idle while the room is already lit, so nothing is spent in daylight.
Twenty-second run: the light holds for twenty seconds past the last movement and then cuts out.
Plate or pad: a magnet plate and an adhesive pad are both in the box, so no drill comes into it.
Manual override: the switch reads on, off or auto, handy when you are digging through a cupboard.
Cells or charging: choose AAA batteries or the USB rechargeable version, which ships with its cable.

The larger packs cover a full stairway or a whole run of cabinets.

Inside a wardrobe, one disc at the top of the rail lights the entire hanging space. On stairs, one every third tread is enough to read the edges on the way down. The ABS body is flat enough to sit under a shelf without catching your hand on the way past.
