The light sits at candle height and gives off the same low, warm tone, but nothing burns and nothing drips. An infrared sensor in the head reads a passing hand and steps the brightness up or down. Charge it once and it runs through a long evening.

A cord across a dining table is a nuisance, and open flames rule out a lot of settings. This lamp solves both. The steel base is electroplated, so it holds its finish on a terrace as well as indoors.
The result is a light you can carry from the table to the balcony and back.

At 16 cm tall and 10 cm across, it takes up about as much room as a real pillar candle. Line up two or three along a table and the effect reads as a row of flames rather than a set of lamps. It also works on a windowsill or a bathroom shelf where a cable would be awkward.

Charge one up and put a warm light on the table without a cable.
