This upright cylinder gives off a 335 nm ultraviolet glow that flying insects move toward, and an enclosed grid inside deals with them. Power comes over a USB cable, so a phone adapter, a laptop port or a power bank all work. A loop on top lets it hang from a hook on a porch beam.
Aerosols linger in a room long after the insects are gone, and adhesive strips are something you have to look at. A lamp in the corner does the same job without either. Running cost sits near 1 kWh a month, so there is little reason to switch it off before bed.
Set it down in the corner and stop swatting at the ceiling.
Keep it away from lamps and screens so the ultraviolet is the brightest thing in the room. Switching it on before dusk works better than switching it on once insects are already circling. To empty it, unplug the cable and tip the base out over a bin.
Hang it on the porch before the sun goes down.
